Apple recently released a new update (32) for the Safari Technology Preview. As a experimental browser the company introduced in March of 2016, it is mainly used to test new web features that may be introduced into the future release versions of Safari.

According to the release notes, Safari Technology Preview 32 adds some web-facing Safari 11 features including webRTC and media Capture, webAssembly and auto-play Improvements. Safari 11 is the default web browser built in macOS High Sierra.

Safari Technology Preview is a standalone application that can run side-by-side with Safari on a Mac device. Apple updates this browser at regular intervals for security reasons and improvements. With the announcement of macOS High Sierra at WWDC 2017, Apple now provides two versions of Safari Technology Preview 32: one is for macOS Sierra and another is for the betas of macOS High Sierra.

WebKit is the rendering engine that powers Safari. Web developers can utilize the Web Inspector and Responsive Design Mode in Safari Technology Preview to modify, debug and optimize websites. Developers can make use of the Bug Reporter (Help menu > Report an Issue) to deliver their feedback to Apple about issues and requests.

If you have downloaded Safari Technology Preview before, you can directly install the update through the Updates tab in Mac App Store. If not, click here to download.

Apple introduced Safari Technology Preview with the major aim of collecting feedback from developers and testers in the development process. As Safari Technology Preview also supports iCloud, all your Safari bookmarks, favorites and reading list can be synced via iCloud into Safari Technology Preview. Though it is a testing browser oriented to developers, it does not require a developer account to download the installation file, which means ordinary users can also have a try on it.
