Total War: Warhammer is a turn-based strategy and real-time tactics video game originally developed by Creative Assembly in partnership with Games Workshop and published by Sega via the Steam gaming platform. It was released on 24 May 2016 for Microsoft Windows, 22 November 2016 for Linux and 18 April 2017 for macOS.
Since its debut on Windows and later on Linux, Total War: Warhammer has received positive reviews by critics and players, yet at that time there was no signs for a Mac version. In the last year some users in the Steam Community site had a discussion about when this PC game would be compatible for Mac OS X. The release time for Mac version was announced to be Autumn 2016 but soon afterward the promise was broken. Now it comes to 2017. And Feral Interactive and Creative Assembly finally announced on April 11 that Total War: Warhammer would come to Mac on April 18.
David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive, said these words about porting Total War: Warhammer to Mac: “Bringing this first installment of Total War: WARHAMMER to the Mac has been an immense endeavor. We know the huge level of expectation from Mac fans of the series, and we are delighted to at last deliver them this wonderful game in all its spellbinding glory.”
A few months ago Feral Interactive explained why it took so long to release the Mac version. In their words, they have been working closely with Apple to resolve the issues they had with Apple’s Metal API. The release of macOS Sierra 10.12.4 help bring their games to Mac.
The game will cost $59.99. Mac users who want to try this game can get it from the Mac App Store, through the Feral Store or via the Steam platform right now. A 4K 360° video trailer is provided by the company on YouTube to give players a glimpse of what they can do in this game.
