Alone with the iOS 11.1, Apple just rolled out the macOS 10.13.1 update through Mac App Store. All High Sierra users are recommended to install this update which improves the security, stability, and compatibility of Mac. Here are the details about this update:

  • Adds support for 70 new emoji, including food types, animals, mythical creatures, clothing options, more expressive smiley faces, gender-neutral characters and more
  • Fixes a bug where Bluetooth appeared as unavailable during Apple Pay transactions
  • Improves the reliability of Microsoft Exchange message sync in Mail
  • Fixes an issue where Spotlight does not accept keyboard input
  • Improves the reliability of SMB printing
  • Makes Touch ID preferences accessible while logged in as a mobile account on MacBook Pro with Touch Bar
  • Adds support for unlocking a FileVault-encrypted APFS volume using a recovery keychain file.

The update also addresses a serious vulnerability in the WPA2 Wi-Fi standard that affects millions of routers, smart phones, PCs and other devices. The vulnerability allows attackers to perform a key re-installation and decrypt Wi-Fi traffic for passwords and other personal data. Attackers can even inject data into the network to remotely install malware on affected devices. Now the flaw has been patched, and devices running on the latest macOS will not be exploited by the KRACK method when connected to a router via Wi-Fi.

The new OS introduces APFS, Metal 2, VR support, and several new features for built-in apps like Safari, Photos, and iCloud. On October 6 Apple released a supplemental update for macOS 10.13 to patch critical Disk Utility and Keychain vulnerabilities and fix bugs in Mail and Adobe InDesign apps. macOS High Sierra 10.13.1 is the first major update since the new macOS High Sierra was first released to the public on September 25. Besides, the first macOS 10.13.2 developer beta has also be available now.

If you have not installed this update, you’d better do it now.
